Friedemann Baur has worked as a petroleum systems analyst with Chevron since 2013. He received his master’s degree in geology from the University of Cologne, Germany in 2005. He started his career working for Integrated Exploration Systems, Aachen, Germany, before returning to academia to pursue a Ph.D. in basin modeling and geochemistry. After completing his Ph.D. in 2010 he worked for BP on exploration, appraisal, and development projects. Dr. Baur takes great pride in coaching and mentoring students and colleagues and is involved in the global research community for petroleum systems analysis and petroleum geology. His research interests include kerogen and hydrocarbon reaction kinetics, modeling hydrocarbon migration, hydrocarbon phase and property prediction in exploration and appraisal and leveraging data science techniques in petroleum systems risk assessment.

Dr. Tao Yang is a reservoir technology specialist at Equinor. He held the position as leading advisor of reservoir technology from 2007 to 2012 with corporate responsibility for PVT and fluid characterization discipline. Dr. Yang has vast industrial experiences from global reservoir engineering consulting projects on more than 200 fields. He has co-authored 23 publications both in journals and at conferences and 4 patents. Dr. Yang is the recipient of the SPE North Sea Technical Award for Reservoir Description and Dynamics in 2011, and SPE Distinguished Membership in 2019. He was selected as an SPE Distinguished Lecturer for the 2017-2018 season.

Geologist with 40 years of industry experience including 37 years in oil and gas exploration. My key activities have been directly related to petroleum systems modeling business development and especially on applications. In the last few years, the emphasis has been on working with national oil companies and regulatory authorities for resource assessments and exploration strategy and skills development. I recently retired from Schlumberger and am now active in providing training and advisory services related to petroleum systems applications in exploration.

Jørgen A. Bojesen-Koefoed, MSc, PhD, Chief consultant with GEUS since 1988. Extensive experience with the practical application of organic geochemistry and petrology in many areas of the World. Leader of numerous expeditions to North and Northeast Greenland, extensive field experience from West, Northeast and North Greenland and many other areas of the World.

Rolando di Primio is a Exploration Geology Manager with Lundin Energy Norway. He is an adjunct professor in petroleum geoscience at the Jacobs University Bremen, Germany and has worked both in the petroleum industry (Saga, Norsk Hydro and Lundin) as well as in academic research institutions (GFZ-Potsdam, FZ Jülich), focusing on petroleum system analysis, organic geochemistry, petroleum phase behaviour and basin modelling in conventional and unconventional settings.

Tiago has a degree in Geology from Lisbon University (Portugal) and a PhD in Marine Geophysics from Oxford University (UK), on the subsidence and thermo-mechanical evolution of the West Iberia and Newfoundland conjugate margins. He then moved back to Lisbon, for a post-doctoral research fellowship at IPMA (Portugal, 2008-2013), to work on rift margins and neotectonics. Tiago joined IGI in 2013, where he has since been working in petroleum systems analysis in basins worldwide, using a wide range of observational and modelling techniques. Tiago has published 10 ISI papers and presented numerous abstracts at meetings and workshops.

Has worked as a geologist at NPD in Harstad since 2012.
Was a geology student and PhD-candidate at the University of Tromsø from 2003-2012, focusing on seismic interpretation.
Main tasks at NPD have been, and still are, exploration in frontier areas in the southern Barents Sea and unopened areas in the northern Barents Sea.
Have during the last couple of years started to use water column data as an extra dimension to seismic data to better understand the petroleum systems in the wider Barents Sea.

Olaf joined Equinor, Statoil at that time, in November 2006 as a petroleum system analyst. Until 2011 he worked mainly with topics related to the petroleum systems of the Mid-Norwegian continental shelf, e.g. the Halten Terrace, the deep-water Vøring Basin, the Dønna Terrace and the Nordland Ridge. In summer 2011 he joined the Barents Sea regional exploration team in the Harstad office, and his activities were concentrated on the Norwegian Barents Sea, including Svalbard and extending to East Greenland and the East Barents Basin. From 2016 to 2019 he was assigned to the regional Norway-United Kingdom exploration (NUKE) team, investigating mainly the Palaeozoic source rock potential in the UK North Sea area. Since spring 2019 he has been back in the Barents Sea exploration team.

Dr. Martin Neumaier is an exploration geologist experienced in sedimentary basins, petroleum systems, risk and resource assessment. He holds a MSc in Reservoir and Exploration Geosciences from University of Montpellier (France) and a PhD in Basin Analysis and Modelling from RWTH Aachen (Germany). Since 2018, after 10 years with Schlumberger, Martin is working as consultant with various industry and academic institutions on resource assessments at different scales and levels of maturity. He is also involved in teaching (Petroleum Geoscience MSc) and project work (supervision of post-doc, PhD, and MSc projects) with Imperial College since 2012, where he holds an honorary position. Recently, Martin has co-founded ArianeLogiX, a company providing asset evaluation software and consultancy services with a focus on the probabilistic evaluation of geological assets using horizontal cross-domain workflows from geoscience to value.

Tanvi has a PhD in Geology from Stanford University, where she worked on Optimizing Decisions under uncertainty in Basin and Petroleum System Modeling, and demonstrated the workflows to exploration offshore Eastern Canada. She is now a Product Manager in Silicon Valley where she helps improve voice technology in Alexa and Siri, but enjoys keeping in touch with geology and exploration. In the past, Tanvi has worked on high pressure mineral physics at Cornell University, the mechanics of liquefaction from earthquakes in New Zealand, and has applied machine learning to petrophysics at Equinor in Oslo and Chevron in Houston.

Matthias C. Daszinnies works as a senior geologist at Migris in Trondheim, Norway. He received his diploma degree in geology from Freiberg University of Mining and Technology and holds a Ph.D. in geology from University of Bremen. He worked previously as a senior research geologist with SINTEF Petroleum Research. His current interests comprise tectonics, petroleum systems, and basin modeling.

Fredrik Wesenlund is a PhD student at the Research Centre for Arctic Petroleum Exploration, ARCEx, at UiT–The Arctic University of Norway. He focuses on Triassic source rock geochemistry in the Barents Sea using Eastern Svalbard as an analogue. His approach includes multivariate analysis of organic and inorganic parameters to assess processes and elements that affect source rock quality and quantity. He holds a M.Sc. degree in petroleum geology and petroleum geophysics from the University of Oslo. His M.Sc. thesis, “The Petroleum Geochemistry of the Johan Sverdrup Field, Southern Utsira High, Norwegian North Sea” was supervised by Prof. Dag Arild Karlsen, and was finished in 2016.

Martin works as a postdoc at the University of Kiel. He received his diploma (master equivalent) in geology in Cologne before earning his PhD as a geochemist in Kiel. In his work, he investigates the effects of generation and migration on the composition of oil and gas, as well as the control factors of expulsion behavior. Special methods developed by him are used to represent catagenesis as realistic as possible in the laboratory.

Chris is a new ventures frontier exploration geologist with over 30 years global experience and is a sequence stratigrapher by background, with a strong interest in source rocks - the most important aspect of the petroleum system. Prior to the ConocoPhillips merger, he was the chief geologist for Conoco’s global new ventures group, based in Houston, where he was responsible for adding high value new play opportunities to the portfolio. Since moving to Norway in 2006, Chris has worked in all basins of both sides of the North Atlantic and brings his experience from the South Atlantic and Alaska North Slope and Greenland Labrador Sea/Baffin Bay to extend the globally important source rock intervals to the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Chris is now a consultant exploration advisor and currently teaches as an Associate Professor in the Department of Energy Resources (University of Stavanger) teaching the MSc course on Sequence Stratigraphy and Sedimentology.

Benedikt currently works as a consultant at Aker BP focusing on petroleum system analysis offshore Mid-Norway. He received his diploma degree (equivalent M.Sc.) in geology from the University of Kiel (Germany) and holds a Ph.D.
in petroleum geochemistry from the University of Oslo. After his Ph.D. he spent two years of postdoctoral research in Oslo and worked a short period as a consultant for Geomodelling Solutions.

Graduated from University of Stavanger (UiS) with a Masters degree in Petroleum Geoscience Engineering in 2019. Worked as a researcher at UiS until December 2020, and started in January (2021) as a PhD candidate in Petroleum Geoscience at UiS.

Currently Principal Geoscientist and EURASIA G&G manager at PGS, Eric holds a MSc from Technical University Berlin, Germany and a PhD from the University of Oklahoma, USA. A petroleum systems analyst by training he spent 15+ years in technical and managerial E&P roles with RWE Dea, Norsk Hydro, Statoil, Maersk, and Woodside before joining PGS to work with and manage the Europe/Asia-Pacific G&G team.

Steve Killops has been a senior geochemist at Applied Petroleum Technology since 2005, where he has been involved in petroleum geochemical projects for a number exploration companies in Norway and around the world. He has previously worked in both commercial and academic sectors for, among others, GNS Sciences in New Zealand and as a lecturer in organic geochemistry at Royal Holloway, London University. He is the co-author of Introduction to Organic Geochemistry.

Currently, Daniel works at Earth Science Analytics applying ML/AI in geoscience as an exploration workflow accelerator. Daniel has 25+ years oil/gas industry experience embedded within exploration teams. He has a strong geological background with specialized knowledge of petroleum systems. Daniel has worked for Saga Petroleum, Norsk Hydro, Lundin Energy and Shell. Whilst at Shell he was global discipline lead for hydrocarbon seeps. Daniel has been involved with many licence round applications, established a petroleum systems department and managed large research projects. Areas worked include NCS,, UKCS, USA GOM, Mexico GOM, North Africa, Middle East and East Coast Canada. Daniel holds a Bachelor’s degree in geology from Hull University, a PhD in Petroleum Geochemistry from Newcastle University, and Post-doctoral research from Cologne University on oil migration.

Andres is currently working towards a PhD in Organic Geochemistry and Petroleum Systems at UiS. His research focuses on source rock variability within the Upper Jurassic in the Barents Sea and continued work to increase both local and regional understanding of the petroleum system of the circum-Caribbean and GOM.

Andreas have a Master in Marine geology and Geophysics from the University of Tromsø, focusing on sequences stratigraphy, Well correlation and Geostatistical modeling.

Currently, he is working as a PhD student at ARCEx, University of Tromsø. The main objective for the PhD is to find and evaluate alternative source rocks in the Lower Cretaceous succession across the NCS.
