Oil & Finance 2012

Oslo

Revival of the North Sea?

Several and large discoveries have been made during 2011, and the view on resource potential is now more optimistic. However, the capital market is still turbulent and it is highly uncertain when it will stabilise again. The programme for the 2012 Oil & Finance Conference will explore this topic in detail and also give relevant industry perspectives on E&P companies’ challenges on financing their activities.

Day 1 of the conference will focus on the global macro perspective with presentations covering both the general macro outlook and perspectives on the gas market.  The conference will be opened by Carl Christian Bachke, equity research, RS Platou Markets, with a recap of what has happened since the 2011 conference. Jon Gunnar Pedersen of Arctic Securities will present a high level view of the financial climate and the economic state of domestic and international banks. Jeffrey Curie of Goldman Sachs will present an industry market perspective for the oil & gas industry and the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy will close the session with their perspectives on the NCS.

The second session will be opened by Jefferies represented by Richard Kent focusing on trends in the M&A market. Relevant case studies will be presented (TBA)

Day 2 will cover relevant industry issues such as new challenges related to unitization and a review of loan covenants by Selmer and Arntzen de Besche. Despite attractive assets E&P companies are facing challenges related to financing of developments due to the financial climate. BNP Paribas will present challenges and opportunities related to bank financing and Pareto Securities will present opportunities for raising debt in the bond market.

The conference will finish with a presentation by Andrew Knott of GLG, a leading global investment manager with focus on the energy sector.

The Oil & Finance Conference is a unique opportunity to learn from acknowledged experts in the oil and finance field on current industry trends and challenges. It is also a great networking opportunity, which has gathered over 100 professionals each year. In the evening there will be ample opportunity to talk with colleagues from the oil and finance industry during a wine tasting at Lysebu and subsequent dinner.
