Oil & Finance 2013
The Norwegian E&P sector has been revitalised over the last years on the back of several and large discoveries. This has triggered the entry of new companies both through licensing rounds and company acquisitions. However, the capital market is still turbulent and it is highly uncertain when it will stabilise again. The programme for the 2013 Oil & Finance Conference will explore these topics in detail and also give relevant industry perspectives on E&P companies’ challenges on financing their activities.
Day 1 of the conference will focus on the Global Macro perspective. The conference will be opened by John Olaisen, Equity Research in ABG Sundal Collier with a recap of what has happened since last years conference. Lambert Energy Advisory will present an industry market perspective for the oil & gas sector, while BNP Paribas’ oil market analyst will present the bank’s view on the commodity markets. Lars Erik Aamot of the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy will close the session with their perspectives on the NCS.
The second session focuses on industry perspectives with relevant case studies as Tullow’s entry to the NCS through the acquisition of Spring Energy. Warburg Pincus a leading private equity fund, will talk about investing in E&P and specifically its NCS investment vehicle Explora Petroleum. The session will be introduced by Anders Witterman, an independent consultant to the E&P industry.
Day 2 will start with perspectives from a leading global E&P investor by Richard Hulf, head of global E&P of Artemis Global Energy. Arne Eidshagen from Alfred Berg Asset Management will follow up with some perspectives from a high yield investor.Thereafter Mike Tholen of Oil & Gas UK will give a presentation about ongoing developments with regard to decommissioning. Olav Hasaas of KLUGE Advokatfirma will talk about challenges related to abandonment in M&A transactions on the NCS.
Despite attractive assets E&P companies are facing challenges related to financing of developments due to the financial climate. Faroe Petroleum will discuss how they have solved these challenges both through asset swaps and RBL financing.
The high yield market has been very strong in 2012 and remains an important financing source for E&P companies. Philip Asp from Deutsche Bank will give perspectives on the international versus the Nordic bond market.
The conference will finish with a presentation by Morten Kreutz from DNB who will give his perspectives on whether banks will remain competitive vs. other financing sources in the oil and gas industry.
The Oil & Finance Conference is a unique opportunity to learn from acknowledged experts in the oil and finance field on current industry trends and challenges. It is also a great networking opportunity, which has gathered over 100 professionals each year. In the evening there will be ample opportunity to talk with colleagues from the oil and finance industry during a wine tasting at Lysebu and subsequent dinner.
