Ms Nyland was appointed director general of the NPD in 2007. She joined the directorate in 1989 as a senior geologist, and was appointed to her first management position in 1994 before becoming a member of the management team in 2000. Ms Nyland began her career as an exploration geologist in Statoil, where she worked for five years. She has served on a number of boards, including those of the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI), the Norwegian Institute for Energy Technology (IFE), the University Fund for Rogaland and the University of Stavanger. Member of NTVA - Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences.

Maria has more than 12 years’ experience in advising corporates on climate risk, ESG strategies and sustainability reporting. She has worked with companies such as Wilh. Wilhelmsen, Telenor, DNB, Aker, Storebrand, Kongsberg Gruppen and Scatec Solar. Building on industry experience and sustainability insights, Maria is an advisor to top management in several companies. Prior to joining The Governance Group, Maria was at DNV GL. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Oslo.

Ellen Waldeland has worked within the field of HSE in the oil and gas industry since 2010 after finishing her master degree in Societal Safety and Risk management from the University of Stavanger. She has mainly worked within the areas of emergency preparedness and response and barrier- and risk management. Today she is the Safety and Risk Manager in Vår Energi leading the technical- and operational safety disciplines and HSE risk management.

Lars Egil Obrestad works as Manager Data Science in Equinor´s Digital Centre of Excellence. He has more than 20 years of experience from the oil & gas industry working with change and improvement projects involving digital technology and data analytics across various disciplines like operations, maintenance, drilling & well, supply chain management and risk management.

Joar works out of the LR Oslo office with project management, line management and innovation management. He has more than 25 years of experience within risk informed decision support for domestic and international assets.
Joar has been heading several innovative solutions for asset risk management, including developing an industry guideline for 3D risk analyses of land facilities on behalf of the Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection (DSB); the overall methodology for the RISP project (Work group 1); and the FABIG technical note 13 on probabilistic fire analysis.
Joar is a member of the FABIG technical committee, the OG21 committee for production, processing and transport (TTA4) and the TEKNA program committee for “Brann- og eksplosjonssikring i petroleumsindustrien”.
Joar has a PhD from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim and has more than 40 publications in international journals and conferences, including co-authoring a book on numerical models.

Jens Christen Rolfsen is a specialist in organizational psychology, and has more than 20 years’ experience from working with the relationship between organizational culture and safety performance. He started his career in the airline industry, working with training and safety management, before joining DNV in 2003. In 2013, he started in Safetec where he is a part of the management team. He has extensive experience from safety culture projects, and has been project manager for the most extensive safety culture project carried out in Norway.

Abdelkarim Abbou, or Abdel which he goes by, has a long and varied experience from the oil&gas industry. Most of his experience is from his time in Equinor, where he started as an analyst in 15 years ago. During the time in Equinor, Abdel has worked in various locations in Norway and internationally, within economic analysis, strategy, business development and commercial leadership. He has also worked offshore as both maintenance and planning manager and as Platform manager, before he took an the role as Vice president for Safety in Exploration. He now fills the position as CEO for Sval Energi.

Anna Kristine Oma works as safety manager in Equinor Corporate Safety. She was educated as chemical engineer from University of Trondheim in 1986. She has experience from operation of offshore oil/ gas fields within Statoil/ Equinor and has also worked as accident investigation leader for eight years. Between 2002 and 2009 she was employed by Petroleum Safety Authority within the area of process integrity.

Stein Haugen is currently a professor at the Department of Marine Technology at NTNU in Trondheim. He has worked at NTNU for about 20 years, first in a part-time position as an adjunct professor and for the last 10 years full time. He is lecturing various topics in risk analysis and risk management. Before this, he worked as a consultant to industry for about 25 years, with the consultancy company Safetec. He held various positions in the company, including being managing director and chief technology officer. His main research interests are major accidents, risk analysis, decision-making about risk and human and organizational factors.

Professor in Medical Microbiology (Tromsø, 1994), professor in gene technology and veterinary microbiology, Oslo 1990). PhD Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo, 1989. Published +100 papers and editor of 4 books in the field of clinical microbiology/infectious diseases, antibiotic resistance. Served on editorial board of Journal of Clinical Microbiology. Have received “Fulbright Award”, “Fogarty Award”, CDC “Outstanding Contribution to Public Health Award”, Food and Drug Administration “Achievement Award”, and Scandinavian Society for Infectious Diseases “Folke Nordbring Award”. Norwegian Medical Associations “Quality Award”. Elected fellow of the “American Academy of Microbiology” and the “Infectious Disease Society of Americas”. Elected fellow of the “Norwegian Academy of Letters and Sciences (Det Norske Vitenskapsakademi)”. Served at Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention 1983-1995. Upon request consultant for WHO and World Bank. Consultant to Norwegian Armed Forces Medical Services as specialist in outbreaks, bioterrorism and biological weapons. Served in Norwegian Armed Forces/NATO “Rapidly Deployable Outbreak Investigation Team”. Deployed as colonel.

Jop Groeneweg is professor of ‘Safety in Healthcare’ at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. The focus of this chair is on quantifying and modelling the factors contributing to a Just culture and its relation with the organisational learning capabilities and the prevention incidents. He is also a human factor specialist at Leiden University and Senior Researcher at the Dutch Research institute TNO with more than 35 years’ experience in a range of industries. As an advisor, he helps organisations to identify the strong and weak points in the way they manage safety and to structure their efforts in a more efficient and effective way to improve safety.

Unni Nord Samdal graduated from the Norwegian University of Technology in Trondheim, Department of Physics, in 1983. She began to work with Norsk Hydro in 1984, and has been employed by Norsk Hydro, StatoilHydro, Statoil and Equinor since then. She started work within the field of reliability and availability studies, gradually moving towards risk analysis and risk management. In the period 2007-2012 she was Statoil’s leading advisor in safety risk analysis and is now advisor in safety technology.
Unni is the steering committee leader for the joint industry project RISP, a two-year project running in 2018 and 2019, with some follow-up activities in 2020. This work is the subject of her speech today.

Anders Jensen has worked as a consultant in Proactima since March 2019. He has experience with risk analysis and management from several areas, including oil and gas as well as banking and finance. He holds a PhD in risk analysis and management, a master's degree in risk management and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Through his PhD, he has published several research articles related to risk analysis and management. His focus is currently on implementing and developing tools and software for risk management and analysis.

Sissel H. Jore is an Associate Professor in Risk Management and Societal Safety at the University of Stavanger (UiS), Norway. Her main research topics are terrorism, counterterrorism, and security risk management, risk perception, conceptualizations of risk, discourse analysis, critical terrorism studies, terrorism emergency preparedness, and crisis management.

Jore has developed and taught several university courses on the topic of security on a bachelor and a master level including the courses Security and Information Protection, Security, Risk Management and Protection from Terrorism and Other Intentional Crimes.

Jore is currently the chair of the Security Defence Speciality Group in Society for Risk Analysis- International, and she is an elected board member of the Nordic Society for Risk Analysis. Additionally, she has previously been the Head of the Security-Technical Committees of European Safety and Reliability Association. She has been a member of the Program Committee of SAMRISK in the Norwegian research council and a member of the Committee on research strategy for extremism and terrorism research, Norwegian Research Council.
