Introduction
On behalf of the programme committee I would like to invite you to “The 10th Conference on Field Reservoir Management Conference” at the Clarion Hotel, Stavanger, Norway.
The oil price during the last years has led to increased activity in our industry and will together with new technology bring us further. As a result, the committee has chosen ‘How technology will bring us further?’ as a topic for the 2005 conference.
Today, The Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) represents a conglomerate of challenges. These challenges span from management of large mature fields and subsea tie-in to these fields, but also to stand alone small to medium size developments. Also gas production from undeveloped fields like Ormen Lange and Snøhvit represents technology challenges in harsh environments.
The conference starts in the evening of Monday May 31, and we have invited Kjell Pedersen from Petoro to present a talk on the challenges for the NCS, as seen from the perspective of Petoro.
Session no. 1 on ‘Challenges on Mature Fields’ discusses experience and challenges for the mature fields. The next session has the title “Technology Challenges” and focus on R&D and technology and how these initiatives may apply. The last part of the session will be a workshop on E-field related issues with short presentations on special topics.
In the afternoon we will have a scenic boat trip to “Flor and Fjære” on the island, Sør-Hidle, for the Conference Dinner. The place is well known for its tropical garden.
On the following day, we will run the last session with the title ‘Technology Applications – Good Examples’ in order to complete the technology circle. At the last part of this session we will have talks focusing on the ongoing Ormen Lange and Snøhvit gas developments.
