The 18th International Petroleum Tax Conference 2007

Oslo

The 18th International Petroleum Tax Conference

This annual international Petroleum Tax Conference takes place in Oslo Wednesday 31 October – Thursday 1 November 2007.

The programme for this year’s Petroleum Tax Conference in Oslo has been recently updated and includes several new highlights. Among others, Dr. Carole Nakhle, Research Fellow in Energy at Surrey Energy Economics Centre (SEEC), UK will speak about “Maximising North sea potential – the challenges for fiscal policy” and Mr. Peter Nicol of Triston Capital UK will be speaking on the topic “The global oil industry; conflict, competition and consolidation. Please also note that as a late and timely addition to the programme Wood Mackenzie will be presenting the results of their recent Government Take study.

With much attention in Europe on ambitious targets for 2020 in respect of renewables and carbon emissions the EU commission will present its perspective on the role of indigenous oil and gas in contributing to EU energy security. Environmental themes are further developed with a discussion of the North Sea tax regimes for decommissioning and the latest status of carbon sequestration opportunities in Norway.

These topics and more will be presented at the excellent conference venue Hotel Bristol in Oslo, which presents a familiar setting to promote networking with colleagues from Norway and further afield.
