Introduction to the Conference:
The recent unprecedented increase in the oil price has created a political and economic storm that shows little sign of abating. Policy makers are preoccupied with concerns over security of supply and the impact of high energy prices on consumers. Industry leaders are facing the rising tide of cost pressures across their businesses and increased scrutiny from Governments over whether the legacy upstream taxation frameworks are appropriate to the new pricing dynamic.
The program for the 19th International Petroleum Tax Conference has been designed to explore many of these themes with a strong international lineup of presentations from Industry, Governments and independent experts.
Day 1 of the conference will focus on a presentation from ConocoPhillips and a discussion of trends in International upstream taxation from Industry and leading independent consultants Daniel Johnston and Co. The organizing committee is particularly pleased to welcome back Dr Leo Drollas from the Centre for Global Energy studies to offer his unique insights into the oil market. Nearer to home Day 1 will also feature discussion of the proposed Shtokman development, the challenges facing small companies in the NOCS and KonKraft’s Energy vision for Norway in 2030 presented by StatoilHydro.
Day 2 continues the theme of international taxation with a representative of the UK Treasury presenting their thoughts on the output from extensive fiscal consultations with Industry over recent years. This is followed by contrasting perspectives on transfer pricing documentation and the customary round up of current tax issues within Norway.
The 19th International Petroleum Tax Conference provides a unique opportunity to hear from acknowledged experts in the fiscal and energy field on current Industry trends and challenges. Cancellations:
Cancellations must be received in writing by 16th October 2008 and will be subject
to a cancellation fee NOK 900,- (plus 25% vat) unless a substitute delegate is offered.
After this date, the full registration fee will apply, however, substitutions will still be accepted. Substitutions for registered delegates may be made at any time, but we would appreciate prior notification.
Conference paper:
Presentations from the conference will be available on Internet after end of conference. Delegates will be informed when available by e-mail.
Programme changes:
It is sometimes necessary to change timing of the programme. The conference organiser will not be liable for any such unavoidable changes.
