The 1st International Arctic LNG Conference 2006
The Norwegian Petroleum Society (NPF) is pleased to invite you to the upcoming 1st annual International Arctic LNG Conference at Bristol Hotel in Oslo.
The conference is a result of the increasing gas activities in the Arctic region and the program has been established in close co-operation with the authorities, organizations, institutes and companies being active in the development.
Recent assumptions indicate that about 25% of the world’s undiscovered fossil fuels are hidden in Arctic regions – especially in Russia, underneath the Barents Sea and in Alaska. A major challenge to the exploitation of Arctic gas is transportation and large scale off-takes of gas from these regions. It is likely that LNG will play a major role in this development.
Exploration and production of gas fields in Artic areas will face new challenges such as extreme weather conditions, lack of infrastructure and a sensitive environment. All operations will focus on HSE. Drilling, construction work and operation of facilities in these areas will require the best available technology and standards.
The LNG projects are now moving further north. The ongoing Shakalin and Snøhvit projects are two good examples. Further expansion of the LNG production capacity at Hammerfest, new LNG projects for Shtokman and in Yamal are being evaluated and some of these projects will most likely move ahead in the near future. Lessons have been learned. The industry will share and discuss this experience in this conference.
The conference will cover a wide range of interesting topics. Among these are:
- environmental challenges
- ice management
- present technologies and solutions
- new technologies and ongoing R&D
- fields and markets
- project experience
- new prospects
Top management and experts will present their views on the development of Arctic gas.
This conference is essential for anyone needing to understand the Arctic challenges but also to learn from present experience and to consider future business opportunities. The strategic impact of the Arctic is growing and the energy context plays a vital role in this. | ||
You will meet top level speakers, key international participants and you will have time for discussions and networking. |
We look forward to welcoming you to this first Arctic LNG Conference. The present activity level is high and we promise you an informative, interesting and enjoyable event!
Hope to see you in Oslo, 30-31 March 2006!
Best regards,
Oscar Fr. Graff
