The 7th NPF North Sea Decommissioning Conference
The Norwegian Petroleum Society (NPF) is pleased to invite you to the prestigious 7th Annual North Sea Decommissioning Conferenceat Solstrand Hotel. We are continuing with the successful formulae and spirit of previous years with the objective of providing the delegates with the opportunity to hear from and meet the recognized experts in the decommissioning industry. While the first class venue will offer a networking opportunity second to none.
Major decommissioning projects are now well into the execution phase and a range of challenges has been encountered including technical, HSE and tax issues. Many of these challenges will be reviewed throughout the conference.
We are pleased to be able to continue with our annual regulatory updating and to hear about how the UK Industry is addressing the fiscal challenges associated with decommissioning.
Handling of hazardous materials continues to be a challenge and is again on the agenda this year with focus on LSA, asbestos and efforts made to reduce the occupational risks during deconstruction.
On the technology side we will focus on cutting, structural engineering challenges and specific issues related to removal of pipeline protections and stabilisation features.
Structural integrity remains the major source of uncertainty and risk related to removal and applies regardless of removal method, this issue will be explored in depth.
As with previous years we will have reports from decommissioning projects in progress both on the NCS and UKCS. While Frigg and Ekofisk have dominated the experiences so far, we now see increasing activities on the UK side such as N W Hutton and we will get more insight into how the challenges are being addressed by the operators, contractors and authorities.
During the last year’s conference we had coverage of the hurricane damages in the Gulf of Mexico, the topic will be revisited this year to check on the experiences and consequences.
We believe that the conference programme will give you the best possible update on the various challenges and the most recent experiences related to decommissioning of offshore facilities and we look forward to meeting you at the conference.

Cancellations
Cancellations must be received in writing by 6 February 2007and will be subject to a
NOK 900,-cancellation fee unless a substitute delegate is offered. After this date, the full registration fee will apply, however, substitutions will still be accepted. Substitutions for registered delegates may be made at any time, but we would appreciate prior notification.
Conference paper
Presentations from the conference will be available on Internet after end of conference.

It is sometimes necessary to change timing of the programme. The conference organiser will not be liable for any such unavoidable changes.
